Beat Grids
Last updated
Imported grids are kept
An imported grid is preserved, not automatically re-analyzed. Grid markers show on both the overview and the detailed waveform, with downbeats highlighted, so you can check the grid by eye before exporting. Tempo changes from the source are stored.
Editing
Load the track (Library and Player), then:
| Action | Control |
|---|---|
| Set downbeat at playhead | Set downbeat button or B |
| Shift grid ±10 ms | , and . |
| Nudge grid | Grid buttons: 1 ms; Shift 10 ms; Alt 0.1 ms. Hold to repeat |
| Adjust BPM | BPM buttons ±0.01; click the number to type |
| Half / double | ÷2 / ×2 |
| Tap tempo | TAP |
Time signatures 3/4 and 4/4 are available. The editor also has more detailed tempo and meter controls; use them for tracks with changes.
BPM mismatches
A track’s displayed BPM and its grid BPM aren’t always the same. If they differ, export is blocked until you resolve it. Fix whichever is wrong (often a half- or double-time value, handled by ÷2/×2), then retry. See Metadata.
Variable grids on export
The export preview assesses whether each variable grid can be represented. Serato and Engine DJ may block an unrepresentable tempo instead of silently dropping it. Non-Rekordbox adapters can’t encode section-specific meter or bar phase. A variable grid cannot always be reduced to the primary BPM without losing timing information. Check a few grids in the target app (Exporting and Backups).
After moving a grid, re-check your Hot Cues and Loops against the new grid by ear before exporting.
